Turkish Interior Minister / Ali Yerlikaya / announced the arrest of 67 people suspected of assaulting Syrian property in Kayseri province in central Turkey.
The Turkish Interior Minister said in a post on the X platform today, Monday, commenting on the events witnessed in the Melk Gazi district in Kayseri province following allegations of a Syrian harassing a Syrian girl by his relatives: The events during which damage was caused to homes, shops and cars of Syrians in Kayseri province are not in line with the human values of the Turkish people.
The Turkish Minister confirmed the opening of an investigation into the allegations of harassment, confirming the arrest of the suspect alongside those who assaulted Syrians and their property in the province.
Kaya stressed that Turkey is a state of law, and that the security forces will continue to firmly combat crime and criminals of all kinds.
He said: “We cannot allow xenophobia, which is not part of our civilized values and does not exist in our beliefs or in
our history.”
Groups of Turkish youths burned down a house inhabited by the Syrian who assaulted the girl, and then clashes erupted between Syrian youths and other Turks, leading to the destruction of a number of cars owned by Syrians residing in the area.
