Riyadh: The Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) has released its Hajj Statistics Publication for the year 1446 AH/2025 CE, revealing that 420,070 workers from both public and private sectors were involved in serving 1,673,230 pilgrims during this year's Hajj season. This workforce included personnel from security sectors and was composed of 92% male and 8% female workers.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the publication highlighted that 34,540 male and female volunteers contributed significantly to the Hajj season by dedicating a total of 2,134,398 volunteer hours within the holy sites. Additionally, the Makkah Route Initiative played a crucial role, with 314,337 pilgrims benefiting from the streamlined travel procedures it offers. This initiative accounted for 20.9% of all external pilgrims arriving from eight countries.
GASTAT reported that on Dhu Al Hijjah 9, 1446 AH, the total number of pilgrims reached 1,673,230. This figure included 1,506,576 external pilgrims who entered through various entry points and 166,654 internal pilgrims, which comprised both citizens and residents. The demographic breakdown showed 877,841 male pilgrims and 795,389 female pilgrims.
The data for the Hajj Statistics Publication was derived from administrative records provided by the Ministry of Interior. These records encompass detailed characteristics of the pilgrims and the services provided within the pilgrimage's temporal and spatial boundaries. GASTAT has been collecting, analyzing, and classifying this data according to statistical procedures established over the past five years.
