Mexico has recorded 155 deaths as a result of high temperatures since last March, including 30 cases last week.
The Mexican Ministry of Health stated in its weekly report that at least 2,567 people have suffered from a health problem related to high temperatures since March 17, warning that most regions will continue to face high temperatures.
Ten Mexican cities broke records for high temperatures last May, with the highest temperature ever recorded in Mexico City on the 25th of the same month.
The heat wave has led to the death of dozens of monkeys in southern Mexico, while the water in many dams has dropped to critical levels, despite rain falling in some areas hit by Tropical Storm Alberto this week.
A study published by the World Weather Association concluded that the deadly heat wave that Mexico and Central America witnessed last May and this June has become 35 times more likely due to the phenomenon of climate change.
